“These paintings harbour an interest in disruption, both in subject matter, and execution. Figures are fragmented, reoriented, and repurposed; creating an alternate narrative from existing images. Although driven by representation, these images demonstrate a painterly eagerness, with an eye towards incidental abstraction and mark-making. Using digital collage as a starting point, these works aim to explore unconscious associations and preconceptions, through the viewer’s own interpretation of these intentionally open-ended images.”
